Media4theWorld,
LLC was founded in February, 2001 by James E. Harvey. Media4theWorld provides
management and technical consulting to various software companies and industry
associations catering to the media industries.
Prior to Media4theWorld, Mr. Harvey was Vice President of Spectrum Operations at
Graphic Communications Association (now IDEAlliance), a technical and management
association for the printing and internet publishing industries. While at GCA,
he worked with numerous advertising agencies, publishers, and the Newspaper
Association of America to create the U.S.’s only set of electronic commerce
standards for the exchange advertising business transactions. He also organized
the development of a web-based universal ad identification system and is the
founder of Industry Architecture Project, which included a development of a
universal data element cross-reference (UDEX) among other aspects of the
project. He also founded GRACoL (General Requirement for Applications of
Commercial offset Lithography), the first and only international guidelines f
or
commercial printing, and was responsible for numerous other industry efforts and
events.
Prior to GCA, Mr. Harvey was a Business Development Manager at Volt Information
Sciences where he organized and pioneered document and data warehousing, SGML
services and applications, early on-line and worldwide web implementations,
CD-ROM publishing, hypermedia, and object-oriented document constructs for
clients such as Simon & Schuster, Hearst Publications, Elsevier, Thompson, the
U.S. Navy, American Honda, Bell Atlantic, AT&T, Bureau of National Affairs, U.S.
State Department, U.S. Treasury Department, and many others.
Mr. Harvey has held numerous industry posts including VP & Board member of the Technical
Association of the Graphic Arts, Secretary and member of the Executive Committee
of the Digital Ad Lab, Secretary of ANSI/PIMI IT2 (Densitometry) as well as
active membership in numerous computer, advertising, and standards
organizations. From Paris to Taiwan, he has spoken at nearly 100 industry events
and has also authored or co-authored several key industry documents,
including SWOP 8th Edition, CGATS.12 PDF/X1, GRACoL, and the first
practical method for accounting for intellectual assets. He is a veteran of
Desert Storm, where he served with the 82nd Airborne, and also contributed to
the Desert Storm operations plan prior to mobilization. Jim earned his B.A. from
the State University of New York at Buffalo and is currently completing his MBA
at John Hopkins University.
